It’s Baaacckk! Pagerank Update People

Having thought Pagerank might have been dead for the last 9 months, or that Google had finally done away with it, I noticed an update on my Pagerank toolbar this morning for this site. I immediately checked all my work sites to find to my delight, an increase on all. I know, I know, SEO’s should not base their sites on Pagerank, or chase Pagerank, yada yada yada. I’ve heard it all, but its definitely nice to see a slight increase on the sites you’ve been optimizing for greater part of the last year. Plus bosses, managers, and non-SEO’s like the arbitrary increase in rank, even if it means little to me and the SEO community.

ShoeMoney’s FreeSEOReport.com Review

It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything of value on this blog and figured it was time to start. I originally told myself it would be a New Years resolution to make a weekly post of the happenings and new trends in the SEO industry, but figured why not give back to my followers before Christmas as a little present.

First Hires

Well we are growing… and in order to keep the trend going we’ve hired our first employees, if you want to call them that (I do because it’s fun). Actually we hired our first outsourced workers, two wonderful Filipino women to aid in tedious tasks such as directory submissions, forum postings, and minor link building (Did you know that Filipino is actually spelled with an F? I didn’t before writing this). Using oDesk in the past for my employer, I turned to it once again to try and find some quality labor for cheap. And boy oh boy it’s cheap, I’m talking $1.80 per hour cheap. And so far so good.

Links from My Google Reader

My Google Reader helps me stay on top of some of the best SEO outlets on the web, as well as some ecommerce blogs that I like to read from time to time. Every once in a while I’ll post some links that I feel are really beneficial to anyone in the SEO / Ecommerce space. Today there happened to be a decent amount of stuff even though everyone seems to be freaking out about this lame Google Homepage background image.

Happy reading.

WebTraphic LLC is Official

FINALLY…

I’ve been saying for months now that I would create our LLC, but the other evening I finally had some down time and went for it.

It feels damn good to say that I am the Founder of my own company at only 25 years of age. The most rewarding part of this venture was the fact that I was able to start, run, and maintain a fully functional e-commerce store with literally the a few hundred dollars I had in my checking account and some good old fashioned hard work. It really is true, that hard work DOES in fact, pay off. 2010 has been a huge success for me so far, and we are only halfway through the calendar year. The sky’s the limit in the next 6 months.

Do ‘Local’ Backlinks = Local Success?

According to Rand’s recent post ‘One Dead Simple Tactic for Better Rankings in Google Local‘ he basically says that the way to list well in your targeted location is by having more quality backlinks from business directories as well as other review sites that allow you to post information (and hopefully a link) back to your business.

Recently we bought a localized domain (you can figure out what I mean) and forwarded it directly to our main site. After submitting it to Google Local Business Center and getting it approved, our listing was nowhere near ranking for blatant local searches and actually 11 pages deep in the local listings.
